Salim was the Australian Treasury's nominated expert on a joint study on green finance under the framework of APEC: Green Finance for Green Growth where he was responsible for aspects of the study related to market based instruments.

This work was part of a broader engagement he had with the Australian Treasury on The implications of climate change for economic policies in APEC economies: strengthening regulatory and institutional frameworks to promote carbon trading markets in selected APEC economies.
